Biography

Emma Sigsworth is a PhD student studying the philosophy of biology at the IHPST. Before joining the IHPST, she completed a B.A. at the University of King’s College and an M.A. at Concordia University. 

Emma researches the structure and function of explanations in the biological sciences, with a particular focus on understanding so-called ‘holistic’ explanations. Other related research interests include concepts of memory in non-neural organisms like slime molds, and explanations about the evolution of empathy.
